KDE seeking family input on what supports they need due to COVID-19 crisis
(FRANKFORT, KY) – In preparation for the reopening of school for the 2020-2021 school year, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) would like to better understand families’ and caregivers’ experiences with distance learning last school year due to COVID-19. KDE is seeking input from families across the state in a brief survey on the challenges they experienced during the implementation of non-traditional instruction during this past spring. This survey will help KDE plan for possible future periods when student learning occurs at home and provide supports to schools and districts in engaging families during the upcoming school year.
The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and will be open through June 24. If you are an adult family member or caregiver who was responsible for a child or children during the period of distance learning during the 2020-2019 school year, KDE invites you to complete the survey.

Rhonda: Hi, hope all is well. It’s Rhonda with Kentucky SPIN. I just wanted to share with you all real quickly, the Kentucky Department of Education, KDE, has come out with a family survey and it’s critical that we get as many families throughout Kentucky to fill that out. It’s a short 10 to 15 minute survey asking you about your experiences during the non-traditional instruction program. And also too, it is anonymous. It goes directly to the Kentucky Department of Education. It may ask your school district that you are in. But it is completely anonymous and KDE really needs our input right now, because as they are planning things and helping the districts and all of us working together, because we don’t know what things are gonna look like as the children go back. So they really need to know what are the concerns? What things have went well? What is been working for you? So please take a moment. I will put a link to the survey in the description of this video and keep in mind too. It’s a tight turnaround and the survey will end on June 24th. So please take a moment. It is critical for our children, for our families and for teachers and everyone as we work together on this. So please take a moment to complete that survey, your input is critical. I hope you all are doing well. Stay safe and we’ll talk soon. Bye bye.
